The year 1992 was when Amanda Bossard began her study of marine biology in Anchorage from Alaska Pacific University. Bossard started her journey in the commercial seafood industry in 1999. At the time she was employed as a fisherman on Murat Aritan's 65 foot halibut vessel, later transformed into a fishing tender. Bossard has married Aritan. They've joined forces and are claiming the respective businesses. They're both supporters of conservatism and sustainable renewable resource management. Otolith is an independent wholesale distributor of seafood that was started in Philadelphia in 2007, by a mother of two children, Bella aged 3 and Andre age 1. Her husband has a long experience in the industry of fish and often they are apart for a period of five or more months. This is when they're focused on their environment and financial goals. Bossard and their son Andre and Isabella, her daughter Isabella will be returning to Southeast Alaska every summer as deckhands during the salmon season.
